Alopecia Has No Control

I woke up this morning doing my normal morning routine to get ready for the workday, and as I was cleansing my face that's when I noticed it! I small chunk of my bottom lashes are gone...they just said see ya, bye bye, I may come back again. So what's a girl to do?? Of course...run to her cosmetics container and find the right products that will camouflage the missing lashes. For those who do not know my story, I have had all three stages of alopecia, starting from alopecia areata in 2000, alopecia totalis in 2005, and alopecia universalis in 2008. My body has been slowly recovering from alopecia universalis since 2010. The products that I used to fill in the missing lashes were Maybelline's brown eyeliner and Rimmel's Glam Eyes mascara in Brown black.

Having Alopecia makes you become your own Makeup Artist. I am always trying different cosmetic products that will make my lashes look fuller and eyebrow look a little natural.  I am a stickler on my outer appearance because not only am I the CEO of Couture Lace Crowns, but I am also a Corporate Diva (Accountant) and have many faces to see. So I always want my first impression to be a fabulous & stylish one! If you have Alopecia, do not let it control your life. We have some many products in the market that will help us camoflouge the hair loss and keep it moving.

Are you suffering from Traction Alopecia?

Hair loss comes in many different forms of Alopecia. In this post I will be discussing Traction Alopecia, which is a form a hair loss that is caused by constant pulling and tension around the hairline. This type of Alopecia is most common in women who styles their hair in a tight bun, ponytails, cornrows, relaxers, weaves, and braids. Over time these types of hairstyles will lead to hair loss due to the constant pulling and tension on the hair. If the hair loss is not treated immediately, it will lead to excessive and permanent hair loss.
How To Reverse Traction Alopecia
Traction Alopecia can be treated in its earliest stages by washing, deep conditioning, and giving your hair an hot-oil treatment once a week. During the process of nurturing your hair back to normal, you can wear an glueless lace wig as an alternative protective style. Wearing a lace wig for protective styling will increase the growth of your hair because it is not being exposed to the environment. If you want to glue or tape your lace wig down, use a wig cap to protect your edges. The lace wig should only be attached between two to seven days.

How to Prevent Traction Alopecia
Take action immediately when you start to notice that your hair has changed at the temples, sides, and front hairline. Wash your hair on a weekly basis using an clarifying shampoo such as Carol's Daughter's Rosemary Mint Shampoo, condition with Carol's Daughter's Rosemary Mint Conditioner, and follow with an hot oil treatment with Moroccan Oil treatment. Avoid wearing hairstyles that involves any tugging and pulling on the scalp. If you choose to braid your hair, braids should be loose versus tight. Do the same with a ponytail and bun.

The products mentioned above are only recommended. The Carol's Daughter Rosemary Mint Collection (http://www.carolsdaughter.com) works as a detoxification of the scalp and the natural peppermint oil stimulates & re-energizes the hair and scalp. The Moroccan Oil Treatment (http://www.moroccanoilproducts.com) restores the hair that has been damaged by chemical procedures and environmental factors. This product can be found online and in various hair salons.

**I am a Wig Specialist, not a Cosmetologist professional, my recommendation is based on pure experience and research because I myself suffer from Alopecia Totalis.

Missing Alopecia Universalis

I am doing my typical Saturday morning beauty routine, and I realized I have quite a bit to do while I was writing my to do list. When I had Alopecia Universalis, I did not have to do much of a beauty maintenance and I was loving it. I wanted to write this blog about missing Alopecia Universalis to see if anyone else shares the same feelings. I developed Alopecia Areata at the age of 19, and today I am 31 soon to be 32. So for 13 years I have been going through all the ups and downs of having Alopecia. I developed Alopecia universalis when I was 28 after I had my third son and slowly started recovering from it in 2011. Right now I have Alopecia totalis. When I had AU, I loved the fact that I did not have to shave a thing, now I spend so much time shaving and I miss when my makeup would go on my skin nice and smooth! If you have or had Alopecia Universalis, what are some things you like about having it?
